On the 17th November 2018,a large number of members past & present gathered at Nemo Rangers Hurling & Football club to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the branch being formed. The huge turnout on the night was a testament to highly the branch is regarded as people travelled from far and near to celebrate with us.
We were particularly honored to have the Cllr Fergal Dennehy representing the Lord Mayor of Cork who spoke so eloquently on the success of the branch and its contribution in developing the tradition in the city. Afterwards he joined our adult Grúpa in singing a song and playing with them for a few tunes. Maith an Fear!
We also had Assunta Uí Cathasaigh, Secretary of Comhairle na Mumhan of Comhaltas. Assunta has been a great friend and supporter of the branch throughout the 21 years and her words on the night were very much appreciated.
Throughout the night we were treated to beautiful music from our U12, U15 & U18 Grupaí Cheoil and our adult Grúpa played a number of tunes and kept the set dancers happy with plenty of polkas!
A number or presentations were made on the night to SCT receipients, Gradam na N’óg awardees and to our scholarship students, who were presented with their instruments on the night.
A special word of thanks to Nemo Rangers Hurling & Football club for the impressive venue, the Committee for all their hard efforts in organising the night and a special word of thanks to our member Tom Kennedy who provided the catering and served the beautiful food on the night. Finally, a big thank you to all of you who attended and supported the night. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Here’s to the next 21 years!
